Can I payday loan file a lawsuit against me?

big red asked:

I received a call from a firm today saying a payday loan company was filing a law suit against me. I have tried to give them something in the past but since I could not give them what they want they will not work with me and now this. What should I do and do I need to seek legal help. I stay in SC.

REDHOPE asked:

Does anyone know if a payday loan company can sue your employer under section 18 USC § 1029 for using your employers IP address? My employer doesn't mind us using the internet during lunch time and that's when I applied for a loan. I have been unable to pay my loan back. It's for $820.00 and had to since close my checking account because of all of the fees that I was incurring so that I can get back on track but now the loan company is saying that they I used fradulant information to get the loan ( I did not) and they can sue my company. Does anyone know about Nationwide Cash? Is this possible?

How can I make PayDay Loans illegal in my state?

Fake☆Star asked:

I know payday loans are illegal in 15 states, but how did they become illegal? Where can I find copies of the legislation bills that banned payday loans? What are the steps I have to go through to make payday loans illegal in my state? Thank you. Your help is greatly appreciated.

Emily asked:

I have an unpaid payday loan from 2005. I thought I had taken out the loan using a check from a closed account & that was not the case. I did however wind up closing out my account after the loan was taken out. Actually, the credit union told me that they'd rather not do business with me anymore and it was at their discretion.

Jon W asked:

I recently took out a payday loan and in order to do so they required I write a post dated check. I can't afford to pay the amount right now. If I simply close out the account to avoid overdraft and NSF check fees from my bank, is that considered fraudulent and can I be criminally charged?

Princess Ty asked:

Hi, I took out a payday loan and have defaulted because my bank account is overdrawn. They are leaving voicemails stating it is going to the legal department and to court. Is this a criminal matter or civil as in they can only sue me, or can I be in criminal trouble for defaulting on a loan? Please, only legitimate advice and answers.
